To wayt from Parapat (city on the shore of the lake) to Berastagi not difficult, but you need to go in the morning, because trip will take at least 5 hours. After the ferry (15,000 / person) you need walk (or use local bus, we ignore taxi touts, and pay 10 thousand for two) to get to the bus station. The bus will take you to bustation, but you do not need it - you need a small office, which sells tickets to Berastagi, directly on the main road, on the right hand as viewed from Parapat, near gasoline station. There you can eat (Local rice with egg), and purchase a ticket to an intermediate station for 30 thousand. From there the bus goes to the transit station aroun 1 hour, where you must shouting "Berastagi !!!!" and locals show you the minivan. Specifically, in the minivan was awful - cramped, stuffy, sub vibrated under our bottoms so that after a couple of hours, I began to roil much ... The trip took 3 hours or so, in the tradition of Indonesia, was awful. From bus station we get tuk-tuk ride away to the Berastagi city, it was about 15 minutes (do not remember the price, all in a daze after 3 hours of vibration) ... The city welcomed us with cold and rain.

On the left, in front of a glass building, a hotel which we eventually settled. Our requirements were not easy: hot water, shower room inside, internet. For all these pleasures we paid 125 thousand per day. If you take a room with no hot water, but suddenly want a warm shower, you can implement it in a public shower at 10 thousand for one ... What a surprise))) Alex at that time was quite sick, with the temperature and the state of flows in bronchitis, so the first few days, we almost did not leave the room - hot tea, honey, antibiotics, cough syrup. To eat we went across the road - Indonesia amazingly delicious and cheap Muslim cafes. In one of them we eat every day - portion of rice and a piece of sumptuous braised fish curry. Such dinners leave us 30-40 thousand rupees (a little more expensive than a pack of cigarettes, a pack of Marlboro - 18 thousand). For breakfast we bought and brewed in-room coffee and oatmeal. However, such dishes we have not tried before or after - a package of noodles with tomato and avocado ....))))

On the second night stay, our gracious host tapped into our room and said, "Grab clothes, camera and come with me! Let's try to see the lava!" It was 30 km from the city began erupting volcano Sinabung - slept for 400 years, and third time erupting in this year. Lava we did not see because of the ash,
but we saw caravans of people who, unlike us, rushing to the volcano, hastily left the neighborhood with their belongings and cows. Everything was shrouded in ash like snow ...... The city had no ash and the next morning we went to the view point to look at the volcano. These are the shots:
Most of the time the weather was awful - torrential rains and thunderstorms .... Basically, we had the opportunity to climb the nearby Sibayak to see the Sinabung BUT: of shoes we had only spanking, Alex was sick, scrambling through the mud, formed because of the daily rain, we were not seduced ....
