Saint-Petersburg. Part 3

Фото Saint-Petersburg. Part 3

The third part will be about our walk through the abandoned building malthouse at Petersburg brewery "Bavaria". It is very problematic to get there because you need have permit for admission to the territory. But we were lucky - Sasha's dad had a permit, the building is going to either demolish, or to restore as soon as possible, so we decided to take this chance.

We came through the main gates with permit and went inside this building without any troubles.

It's really suprised - no graffity on the walls.

A bit of history: the brewery "Bavaria" - one of the oldest buildings in St. Petersburg. Founded in 1863 and initially looked like this:

Already in 1909 the brewery was awarded several Russian and international awards for the quality of the beer, there worked about 300 workers, modernization and improvement of the equipment were continuously, allowing to keep the quality at a constant high level. After some time, "Bavaria" has acquired about 80 beer stores in St. Petersburg, which made it possible to supply the city with fresh produce every day.

The continuous growth of production lasted until the "dry law" ad in 1914. The factory was closed and re-opened when the Soviet Union regime came, and get a classic for that time name - "Red Bavaria." From other Soviet breweries it was little to distinguish, the range narrowed to fit the standards of production. In this mode, the average factory worked until the 2000s and closed. Now the building of the malt house, the oldest factory's building, added to the list of historical and cultural monuments of local importance. In Internet I found a lot of conflicting information about the future of the building - that it put up for sale, it going to be demolished ... Whatever, the neighboring tenants premises (they were rented warehouses) from the plant were asked to leave, which, in fact, occurred at the time of our visit.

Climbed everywhere, from the bottom and up to the roof, here is more pictures for you.

Innside the malthouse - only pigeons, and in some rooms floor is still littered with malt.

At the roof:
