Mirissa is not known for any special attractions. There is a cafe on the beach, clean beaches, great waves, but tourists do not go there just for that. The most popular excursion Mirissa, what cry all guest-house and beach signs, it is certainly an opportunity to see whales and dolphins in their natural habitat. I recall that we were in Mirissa at the end of the season, which beneficially affected the prices - despite the fact that in some places we still have bid high season (6,000 rupees), we can easily find an affordable price of Rs 2,000 per person . At 6 in the morning from our guest-house we went to the port.
At one of these boats and we set off. The captain asked us not say to anyone about price, so I assume that the quality of the boat does not depend on the price you pay.

We walked along the volatile wavy sea at least 3 hours. We rounded the Cape and went straight into the ocean! Wait and looking for whales had promised long, boat is not equipped with anything for this, not even the most basic sonar and radios, captains talking on mobile)))

After three hours of talks on the phone in the same location has accumulated about 10 boats with tourists. Whale found!
When whale comes up, tourists have fled to one side of the boat - the boat strongly heels, looked scary ....
To be honest, I was a bit disappointed - whale was far. One thing I undestand about whales for sure - the whales rarely breathe! (* Bastards! *) Every time it pops up, and we saw a fountain, captains of boats allowed on gases sharply, to get to him as close as possible, but the whale again went under the water, and then everybody looked tense again - where did he emerge next time? He pops up far in an unpredictable direction, approximately every 10-20 minutes ...
So we chased the whale for about an hour. We are seen as a flock of dolphins (30-40 individuals). These fun frolicking in the water, but we could not take a picture - such nimble! And the captain announced that we will see whale one more time - and go home, because return is far enough. Everybody was a little upset, because we really have not considered it. And then - the handsome first time showed us its massive tail, as it waved us goodbye ...
The captain said that it was a blue whale, young and not very big. All were delighted, it's not so often you can see the blue whale, and we went back to the port. We are sunbathed, drank juice and listened the sound of Chinese guys. It's amazing, but as I saw the Chinese in the sea - all of them are stable pale, clutching the railing and hugging packages .... What they are fed? ...
So not all the tourists enjoyed the tour, some lay in this state all 6 hours and did not see a whale. I would not say it was great, I expected more, but still I am very happy and I do not know if I happen to see a whale in the wild again.
