Koh Phangan - is the island in the Gulf of Thailand, 15 km from the famous tourist island Samui and 55 km from the mainland. If you believe Wiki, the area of the island is 125 sq. km, 70% of which is covered by mountains and forests, and the remaining 30% - coconut plantations and beaches. You can come to the island by plane to Samui and from there by ferry or speed-Boat, or (like us) bus to Surathani and ferry from there. The second way is much cheaper :)
The name of the island is translated from Thai means "island sandy shallows," which can be seen around the entire circumference of the island, especially at low tide. The islands are inhabited by people no less than 2000 years, it has been proved by a bronze drum 500-100 BC, which was found at Samui. Who knows, maybe already at that time, peoples danced to the sound of the drum and the light of the full moon. The heyday of the island began in 1888, when on the way to Malaysiait was visited by the King Rama 5. From 1888 to 1909 the King visited the island 14 times, so that the island became known as a "favorite King's island." However, until 1940 there were no roads, and the local people travel by foot or by boat. Nobody heard about tourism here until in 1988 Samui started to develop actively. Gradually only last 20 years on the island actively built bars and hotels, and many locals from fishermen and plantation workers retrained to work in the new tourist sector.
and of course it is impossible not to mention the famous Full Moon Party, held monthly at the HaadRin beach. If during your trip you will not get to the island at full moon - it's not a problem, except the famous full moon parties they have the Half moon, Black moon and Shiva moon partyes.
This is the general information about the island. Now I will write about how we live here and what we are doing. First of all, we came here to our friends. Guys already 2 years makes a nice partyes, their bar called OneLoveBar. We live right across the road from the bar in the house that our friends are going to pass in November, so we paid only for the Internet, so thanks to them. However, we learned about prices - they are a bit higher than at Phuket, and no condo - only houses. So prices is from 4500baht per month and up to 30 000 baht. Our house:
A lot of space inside, we have refregerator, fan, bed, 2 tables, hot water and kitchen.
The biggest room:
Bedroom.
Bathroom in real Thai-style.
Also we have smoking place and gas-oven. Today we cooked vegan pasta with tofu.
Also we got a cat - fist time she eat just rice, but now we buy cat-food, so she live under the roof.
Now about our activities. We live close to the bar, so spend some time there :)
Except partyes we spend some with friends not in the bar - cooking tradition russian food "okroshka" with potato, carrot and kvas.

and I am weaving mandalas
So, this 2 weeks we get the rest after crazy months in Moscow. We are doing everything we want when we want.
